Survival 101: Herbal Remedies.

Heheheh sorry about slow updates...I have a good reason REALLY i do for once.
1. I was learning more on energy (chi balls etc..)
2. I was drawing...ALOT. (blame homestuck.)
3. i was rewriting a fiction story on my winged friends.
So i was pretty busy. Not to mention i fucked up my knee really bad. it was swollen to the size of a grapefruit, the swelling is still going down slowly.

but heres the actual post.
Ill post more often. i hope.

Herbal remedies 101

When working with herbs you must use GREAT care in picking them, some are best picked in the morning when the dew is still on the leaves or petals. and decide before you pick them wether you want to freeze them, dry them or use them fresh. if your using them fresh immediately do what you wish, turn them into a (hehe) tonic, a poultice, a tea etc... I'll explain how to make those later on in this post.

if your freexing them then bag them up and write todays date (INCLUDING YEAR) on them, herbs last up to a year frozen, before they lose their nutrients.
if your drying them then put them in a warm place perferably out in the sun. and leave them there for as long as it takes or them to be dry of all water.

a poultice is a peice of cloth with a herb paste in it thats applied to the skin. heres the way to make both dry and fresh poultices:
NOTE: UNLESS USING CHICKWEED APPLY POULTICE WARM. (chickweed poultices heat up as they draw out infection, making them easy to use. take them off when their hot) TAKE OFF WHEN COOL.

fresh
mash the herb(s) of your choice into a paste. put on a peice of  gauze and apply to injured area. let sit for 30 min - an hour depending on the herb.

dried
pour a small amount of water into the herbs untill it becomes a pastelike substance and apply to wounds.

PICKING YOUR HERBS
each herb has its different uses. some more important then others. Dandelion can be used to draw out infection, honey can be used to help sore throats, etc..
Always look up your herbs before using them.
heres a table

Survival 101: How to defend yourself

I have decided recently, to make a survival 101 guide, because it will help majorly. I used to be in the scouts, (yes scouts was originally for boys, but recently girls were alowd in it. and well. Im a badass girl I guess) So I've learned the basics and many major survival skills. as well, I live in the great north of Canada, I often hike, camp, use crystals/stones and plants for healing. As well as I can identify poisonous from non-poisonous plants.

But, Sorry I haven't posted in so long, this summer has dragged on ruthlessly. Anyways, I have noticed thanks to Darxin, that protecting yourself is a key factor once you gain your wings or shifting ability. Here's a few tips first of all, before teaching you a few ways to defend yourself.

Tips
  • Be careful when in areas such as lakes, rivers, dams, cities, hunting grounds (especial duck or deer/moose), and towns. you can easily drown, get shot or get seen easily by the public if you have your wings out or if your shifted. I don't mean completely avoid lakes and rivers, they are a necessity for water and food. But REMEMBER When drinking water from lakes and rivers, check the water quality (is it muddy, full of feces, salt etc..) and if its clean enough (aka if you can clearly see through the bottom and dead fish aint rising from the bottom Lol) boil it, I'll tell you how to make a simple fire In a post I will post shortly after this one.
  • When going to the bathroom in the bushes be careful of what plants your sqatting over. >.> could save ya alot of pain.
  • When setting up camp, set it on a hill, a shallow one of course, that way water will run down the hill if it rain and you wont get surrounded by water.
  • when hutning for food, always checkt he animal for any abnormal features (mild to major patches of fur loss,  foaming by the mouth, anything strange really) and make sure to cook ti thoroughly (I will teach you some hunting tactics in a later entry)
  • when creating a shelter make sure it is safe and secure, as well as hidden from any humans, make it look as natural as possible.
Protecting yourself
There are multiple forms of    protection for yourself. theirs weaponry, martial arts, simple stealth, or just plain fist fighting. I will tell you a few forms and the benefits, starting from strongest to weakest, remember this is in my own personal opinion, they are all strong in their own way.

  • INSTINCT: Instinct is ALWAYS first. If you feel a danger. run or fight. if you sense your going to win. keep going. if you feel your going to die. run like a rabbit ebing chased by an illegal fur sales man!
  • Tai chi : It can help with balance and many elderly enjoy it. Tai chi comes in second, due to the fact that with this form of martial art you can easily dodges and deflect any attack played against yourself, as well as attack. defending is just as -maybe even more- important as attacking.
  • Kick boxing: I do not know much of it but I rate it as a second, my cousin is a great kck boxer, I've seen her beat up men twice her size. imagine she is a 5'4 girl against larger people.
  • Weaponry: (I will write a bit on it later in this entry)
  • Karate: this is a popular form of martial art amd I approve very much of it. it can teach your ways of defence and attack.
Weaponry
There are many forms of weapons, from the midieval like swords and those spikey ball things (tell emw aht their called and Ill fix this error) to the prehistoric such as simple sticks, spears, archery,(i like my swords and spears as well as sticks for my fighting style) all the way to modern guns and such. heres a list of commonly used items.
  • Swords: swords are commonly used if you wish to learn a mideival talent (im learning how)
  • spears: older generation of weaponry :3 (my personal fav)
  • sticks: violently whack people over the head.
  • etc
Thanks for reading. I will post again tomorrow.

They are more about reminding one of a feeling or a way than about healing other things. such as meditating, one can hold that knowledge and assist you in remembering to do it, or to exercise, or getting the rest you need, or something as simple as remembering to smile. it is important that you find the one that connects to you and holds a feeling you connect to when choosing to work with geodes.
In the place I take people to seek vision there are many geodes. Because of this many times those seeking vision are gifted a geode by mother earth while there to remind them of what spirit has given them on the mountain. each memory is different and the geodes hold those for the one they are gifted too.
Iolite

Iolite is a a useful stone for use during meditation and to help induce third-eye visualizations. Other names for iolite are "violet stone" and "water sapphire." Iolite helps natural psychic abilities to surface. Helpful tool for the spiritual seeker. It also helps to balance feminine and masculine energies.
Turritella Agate
Turritella is a fossilized form of agate that is easily recognized from embedded sea creatures and snail markings in the stone. It can be carried as a protective amulet. Turritella agates are among healing stones called "record keepers" and can be used to attain knowledge of past events in history.
Rubies

The ruby is a stone of nobility. The energy of the ruby is intense and vivid. This stone encourages one to follow bliss. It also acts as a "plug" for holes in the energy field. Wonderful stone for the 1st chakra as it stimulates our basic instinct of/for survival. It strengthens both the physical and emotional heart.
Ruby brings love, confidence, loyalty, and courage. It instills stamina, vitality and strength. A good stone for removing blocked energies in the reproductive system. It re-energizes one after exhaustion. Also good for balancing the blood's sugar. It also helps to reduce negative thought patterns.
Ruby allows you to love Self and Spirit. A good stone of protection. Depending upon which type of gold you have the ring set in, (yellows or silvers) it would bring with it these healing properties as well. The yellows carry the energy of the Sun or a masculine energy, while the silvers carry the energy of the Moon or a feminine energy.
This is a stone that all those who are in service to others should have upon them. it helps you feel more like giving to others and doing so with love and joy in your heart. There is no room for resentment in ones heart who is being of service to others and this stone does not allow that to be a part of your heart. it helps you relax as you care take others because you can trust you will not be trapped in any way in that role. it helps all to be warm, caring and help out with the needs of others. it also helps one with devotion to others.
Diamond

Aid creativity
Manifests good fortune
Enhances psychic ability
Diamonds are associated with love and romance. It is the stone traditionally chosen for engagement rings. And, rightly so, because diamonds foster unity, trust, and fidelity.
Yellow Jasper

Jasper in general is a protective stone. A traveler would be wise to choose a yellow jasper as a hitchhiker, its protective properties are likely to assure safe traveling conditions. Yellow jasper can also be used to assist astral travel.

Yellow jasper's energies are compatible with the healing properties of the sun. This healing stone can also be used to tap into knowledge stored in the instinctual gut (solar plexus) chakra. Yellow jasper can also help to repair damage to the auric field in the lower extremities of the physical body.

How to clean the stones

There are many different ways to clean your gemstones. Choosing the best cleaning method depends on the type of stone you are wanting to clean. An hour in direct sunlight is more than enough to clean most stones. Certain stones will fade if left out in the sunlight, amethyst is one example. Keep your amethysts out of direct sunlight if you want them to retain their vibrant purple hues. Moonlight cleansing can take several hours or days. To expose a stone to all the moon phases (full moon to new moon) place the stone outside each evening at dusk (retrieving it before sunrise) for 28 consecutive days.

Some stones will dissolve in water, whereas others love to be soaked in fresh water. I actually clean most of my stones under a running tap of cold water while brushing them with a soft-bristle toothbrush until they are sparkling clean. My stones are perfectly happy to be shined up from the same water source that I take my showers in. Rub-a-dub-dub!
List of crystal cleaning methods:
  • Energize crystals in the sunlight.

  • Energize crystals under the moonlight.
  • Cleanse crystals in the ocean or inside bowl of salt water.
  • Cleanse crystals in a natural water reservoir (lake, river, creek, pond).
  • Purify overnight in a bowl of brown rice
  • Bury crystals in the earth for a ritual purification.
  • Scrub crystals under running tap of cold water.
  • Infuse crystals with balancing reiki energies and symbols.
  • Visualize beaming white light crystals.
  • Cleanse and re-energize with purple Plates.
  • Smudge crystals with smudge sticks (sage, sweet grass, ceder, lavender)

Healing Stones II
The process may be done with clear quartz crystals only, colored gemstones only, or a combination of both. The stones may be used alone or with a hands on healing (ie; Reiki). The stones are placed upon the receiver's body from feet to head. The healer then begins using her hands as usual starting at the head and moving toward the feet. (Use gemstones with colors matching each chakra's color. The stones can be in any form-faceted, raw, tumbled, eggs, or beads.) Energy in this type of healing needs to move in one direction through the body, either Earth to sky or sky to Earth. If the energy is Earth to sky, all the gemstones that have points are placed with the points turned towards the receiver¹s crown. The effect of this direction is to move the receiver's energy to a higher vibration or more spiritual level. If the direction is from sky to Earth, it is the opposite, with the crystals pointing toward the feet. This direction moves life force energy from crown to feet for grounding and rooting into Earth.

To begin, the receiver lies on her back on a padded floor or massage table, with pillows under her head and knees for comfort. The space should be quiet, comfortable, and warm. Use only stones that have been dedicated to positive energy and programmed for healing. Invite spirit guides and angels into the session if you wish.

Start by placing a clear quartz crystal above her head and below her feet. In the right hand place another crystal and in the left hand place a rose quartz gemstone. (my personal method). Then go chakra by chakra, moving from the feet to crown and placing the appropriate colored gemstone for each center. (Be sure you have your healing stones spread out where you can reach them easily.) There may be stones that you are drawn to for a particular reason, let yourself be guided, there are no real rules. You cannot do it wrong. A stone that is not needed for the session or is inappropriate for the receiver's energy will roll right off or roll to another place where it is better utilized. Allow this to occur. If the receiver feels uncomfortable with a particular stone, remove it, the energy is not right for her needs.

When the stones are all in place, the healer has two options. She (he) can go to the head and begin a hands on healing. Be sure to cover the stones with your hands carefully in order not to scatter the gemstones. While your hands are covering each chakra over the stone, visualize the bright color of the gemstone entering the chakra, making it appear bright, balanced, centered, and healthy. Do this visualization until you feel confident to move to the next chakra. Be sure to flick fingers to release any negative energy before going to the next center. End with a complete brushing of the aura.

The other option a healer has once the stones are placed is to sit beside the receiver and simply wait, allowing the gemstones and spirit guides to do the healing. As the receiver¹s chakras and aura absorb and are balanced by the crystal and gem energies, the stones begin to roll off one by one. When all the stones are off, or the receiver feels finished with those that remain, the healing is over.

End with a complete brushing of the aura and allow the receiver to lie quietly without the stones. Ask for feedback and discuss anything that you feel should be discussed. While she is doing this, the healer can gather up the stones from the table or floor and clear them again before putting them away. Put them into your protective box.

A laying on of stones healing can be quite intense. There is often a major energy shift during this type of healing. More frequent emotional releases, past life and this life trauma openings and other transformative events. The healers role in this is to wait for the release to end and to be entirely non-judgmental. After a session, there may also be a physical detoxification process that can continue for up to a week. Be aware of what is happening and again, allow it. The changes are always positive and are usually gentle.

Wolf Quotes

A collection of wolf quotes I found Online, Enjoy.

"All species capable of grasping this fact manage better in the struggle for existence than those which rely upon their own strength alone: the wolf, which hunts in a pack, has a greater chance of survival than the lion, which hunts alone. "
~Christian Lous Lange

"Careless shepherd make excellent dinner for wolf."
~Earl Derr Biggers

"If you live among wolves you have to act like a wolf. "
~Nikita Khrushchev

"It is madness for sheep to talk peace with a wolf."
~Thomas Fuller

"Man is not man, but a wolf to those he does not know."
~Titus Maccius Plautus

"I've always said that the best wolf habitat resides in the human heart. You have to leave a little space for them to live."
~ Ed Bangs

"The timber wolves will be our friends
We'll stay up late and howl,
At the moon, till nighttime ends,
Before going on the prowl"
~ Calvin, Calvin and Hobbes

"The caribou feeds the wolf, but it is the wolf who keeps the caribou strong."
~ Keewation (Inuit) proverb

"The gaze of the wolf reaches into our soul."
~ Barry Lopez

"Perhaps it was the eyes of the wolf, measured, calm, knowing.
Perhaps it was the intense sense of family.
After all, wolves mate for life, are loyal partners, create hunting communities
and demonstrate affectionate patience in pup rearing.
Perhaps it was the rigid heirarchy of the packs.
Each wolf had a place in the whole and yet retained his individual personality.
Perhaps it was their great, romping, ridiculous sense of fun.
Perhaps it was some celestial link with thw winter night skies
that prompted the wolf to lay his song on the icy air.
For the native people who lived with the wolves,
and the wolves once ranged from the Arctic to the sub-tropics,
there was much to learn from them.
Is it any wonder that the myths of many tribes characterise the wolves
not as killers but as teachers?"

Spirits

Once a body dies, it is believed that the spirit departs from the body and goes either to the spirit realm or continues to walk the earth. Those spirits who  walk the earth are commonly called ghosts. Contacting a spirit is found in some religions and can be done by anyone! But be warned spirits can have a negative effect on you.
Here is how to contact a spirit SAFELY. you must follow each direction CAREFULLY.

Step one: First off, find a comfortable space to meditate. close your eyes, cross your legs and focus on only your breathes. you can also use a candle as well.

Step two: cast a protection spell, or ritual, or prayer. it also helps to carry a protection stone, such as a tigers eye or onyx.

Step 3:  focus on the question "what would you like me to know?" in your mind. and then repeat it ALOUD seven times.

Step four:  Examine the resulting mental activity. Some time after asking the spirits what they want you to know, you should find yourself becoming distracted by mental images or a few words that keep appearing in your mind. This is your answer

Step five: Make a pendulum if you're having difficulty with the meditation. Attach a fishing sinker to an 18-inch piece of fishing line. Hold the sinker suspended in the air, with your elbow on the table. Ask the pendulum to swing in one direction if the answer is "yes" and the other direction if the answer is "no."

Step six: Try scrying. Sit in a dark room lit by a single candle and look into a mirror. For best results, turn the mirror slightly or sit beside it at an angle, so you're not staring directly at your own reflection. Do not focus your eyes on anything in particular; in time, you should be able to see images other than your own.
